As the vibrant colors of autumn sweep across the Texas Hill Country, Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg becomes a stunning backdrop for family photos. In November, the park’s natural beauty is at its peak, with golden leaves, crisp air, and serene landscapes providing a picturesque setting for a memorable family session. Here’s a glimpse into Haley’s delightful family photo session at this charming park, highlighting the beauty of fall and the joy of capturing precious moments together. Her entire family was so sweet to photograph.

The Perfect Autumn Setting

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, named after the former First Lady, is a gem in Fredericksburg. Spanning over 150 acres, the park boasts scenic trails, open fields, and beautiful water features, making it an ideal location for capturing the essence of fall. In November, the park is adorned with a rich tapestry of autumn colors, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for family photos.

Planning the Session

1. Choosing the Best Time

November in Fredericksburg brings mild temperatures and beautiful sunlight, creating ideal conditions for outdoor photography. To make the most of the natural light, we scheduled the session for the late afternoon, aiming for the golden hour when the sun casts a warm, soft glow over the park.

2. Coordinating Outfits

To complement the autumnal setting, the family chose outfits in warm, earthy tones. Coordinating but not matching, their attire included shades of burgundy, mustard yellow, and forest green, which beautifully blended with the fall foliage. Layering with cozy scarves and light jackets added both style and comfort.

3. Highlighting the Park’s Features

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park offers diverse backdrops, from open meadows to wooded trails and charming bridges. We planned to explore several key areas during the session:

  • The Meadows: The open fields, adorned with tall grasses and scattered leaves, provided a perfect setting for candid shots of the family walking hand-in-hand and sharing joyful moments.
  • The Trails: The wooded trails, with their canopy of golden leaves, offered a more intimate setting for portraits. The children’s playful interactions and the parents’ tender moments were beautifully framed by the autumn foliage.
  • The Water Features: The park’s serene ponds and picturesque bridges added a touch of tranquility to the session. Reflections of the fall colors in the water created stunning backdrops for both posed and candid shots.

XOXO,
