Winter Engagement session at Carolina Beach, NC
Jaymee had reached out to me, asking if I would take her and Patrick’s engagement photos. I said yes without hesitation! I loved this engagement session with them. We are so happy for them and can not wait to celebrate them and the family in October. They’re a sweet couple to photograph, laid back, and eager to enjoy the session. The weather at the beach was perfect. It was a bit chilly when we arrived. But as we moved around to different spots, it warmed up nicely. Afterward, we celebrated with family at Hibich restaurant.
Picture this: it’s mid-January, and the beach is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cold, crisp air feels refreshing, and the quiet beauty of the season offers a unique setting for an engagement session that’s truly one-of-a-kind.
Carolina Beach State Park, NC, is often celebrated for its sun-soaked summers. There’s an understated charm to this coastal haven in the heart of winter. The park offers various activities including a nine-mile hike with different trails that travel through the beach and marshes. Various landscapes bring an extra layer of diversity to engagement photos. These can also evoke multiple emotions, such as romance or playfulness, in photos. One of the nice things about the winter months is the lack of crowds on the beach, which is a bonus when getting photographs done. One thing to also mention is this park requires a permit.
What to wear during winter months
Dressing for a winter beach engagement session means embracing layers and textures that add depth to your photos. Imagine cozying up in a chunky knit sweater, wrapping a scarf around your neck, and perhaps even donning matching winter hats for a playful touch. Opt for neutral tones that complement the natural surroundings, with a pop of color to stand out against the muted winter landscape.
