Hudson Valley Engagement

It was so nice to travel back home to the Hudson Valley and photograph Katlyne and Roy’s engagement session. Katlyne wanted the location to be a Vanderbilt Manion, which is a huge staple in the Hudson Valley. It’s also one of my favorite places to visit when I come home. Katlyne and Roy have a love that you can feel almost instantly! I’m so happy, I was able to photograph them before they left for Fort Drum. Wishing them endless amounts of happiness and love!

The Venue: Vanderbilt Mansion

Nestled on the banks of the Hudson River, Vanderbilt Mansion is a testament to Gilded Age opulence. Built in the late 19th century, the mansion boasts stunning architecture, meticulously manicured gardens, and sweeping views of the river and surrounding landscapes. Its grand interiors and picturesque exteriors make it a perfect location for an engagement session that blends elegance with natural beauty.

The Session: Love and Elegance

The engagement session aimed to capture the couple’s love story against the backdrop of the mansion’s timeless beauty. From the sprawling lawns to the intricate details of the mansion’s interior, every moment was designed to highlight the romance and excitement of their engagement

The Details: Capturing the Magic

Location Highlights: The session began on the grand staircase of the mansion, with its ornate railing. Walking through the lush gardens and scenic river views offered a serene and romantic atmosphere, perfect for candid moments and intimate poses.

Attire: The bride-to-be wore a flowing, black lace dress that fluttered beautifully in the gentle breeze, while the groom-to-be looked dashing in his military uniform.

Personal Touches: To personalize the session, the couple included meaningful elements. Bringing their dog along, they posed with him in the gardens, adding a warm and personal touch that enhanced the session’s uniqueness and significance.

Tips for Planning Your Engagement Session

  1. Choose a Meaningful Location: Select a venue that resonates with you as a couple. Whether it’s a place of historical significance or a spot that holds personal memories, the location should reflect your unique story.
  2. Coordinate Outfits: Choose attire that complements the setting and each other. Opt for timeless, elegant pieces that will look beautiful in photos for years to come.
  3. Incorporate Personal Elements: Bring along items that have special meaning to you, whether it’s a picnic set, heirloom jewelry, or a favorite book. These touches add personality and depth to your photos.
  4. Plan for Natural Light: Schedule your session during times of the day when natural light is at its best, such as early morning or late afternoon. This helps create soft, flattering images.
  5. Relax and Have Fun: The best photos often come from genuine, candid moments. Enjoy the experience and let your love for each other shine through in every shot.
